How do I straighten my African American hair?

Asked by: Berty 233 views Hair

I’m African American and therefore have African American hair. However I want to know how to straighten my hair at home (without many hair products) like they do at the salon. I love how my hair looks after a salon visit but when I try to straighten my hair at home it doesn’t turn out the same. What do they do that is SO different???!?? How can I make my hair just as nice at home without spending all that money?? It’s so frustrating! Ughhhh! Please help!!

Its not possible for anyones hair to look salon done everytime..My hair is so thick but what i do is put olive oil in my shampoo so it doesnt wash all the natural oils out my hair.. then condition normally. After rinsing I put some type of syrum(i use carrot with aloe oil in it) in my hair and tie it down some type of way and let it air dry.. if i dont wait for air dry. I usually sit under the dryer(make sure your hair and scalp is moisturised) this makes your hair soft without piles of grease. Then i section hair and brush/comb through as I am flat ironing. I get compliments about how soft and straight it is.

Hi there I’m also African American. This is how I blow dry my hair. I always start with freshly shampooed and conditioned hair. While my hair is still damp I like to apply and heat protecting hair serum, cream, or spray. Then using a round brush I blow dry my hair in small sections starting from the back to the front. Personally I find I get the smoothest results when I use a hair serum or cream and pulling the sections taut with the brush while I blow dry. Then I finish off with a little hair lotion to moisturize. I hope this helps you.
