Can you ask a barber/hairdresser to cut inches off your hair if they use scissor and not the razor (male)?

And what would be a reasonable length to ask off, my hair is fairly long and curly and I just want it shortened but not shaved too short.

Yes since u are paying for that haircut, but its fairly impossible to use scissors since they don’t give ur haircut a smooth finish, but if u insist ur dresser will have to do it with scissors (customer is always right) and how long is ur hair and what length do u prefer? If u have girly super long hair u can opt for shoulder length, if not then most probably its should be 2inches or more from ur scalp, I’d prefer 1inch away from the scalp lenght

Try a visit to a hairdresser. My son finds barbers (sorry to offend any barbers out there) tend to use the razor too eagerly.

The width of the side of their fingers is the shortest they can cut your hair (whatever hair fits between their fingers against your scalp), any length shorter has to be cut with clippers (razor).
