How do I go about starting a modelling career and what can it do for me?

Asked by: Blueberry Tickles 218 views Fashion & Accessories , ,

I’ve been told by many people that I should try giving modelling a shot. It’s flattering but I think i’d be up for it. I’m starting university in September and i’d be wondering if I was able to do it alongside my university studies, or is it only a full time job?? Can it lead me to the possibility of acting?? What does the agency do for you? Thank you! :)

To go about a modeling career you will need to get ahold of a professional photographer and get photos of a full body and 2 face photos, one smiling and another a straight neutral face. Than you will need to search some modeling agencies. If you can find Barbizon they are okay. You have to pay a lot for them. Modeling can get you to become an actor, runway model, or in music videos. It’s a part time kind of job. If your agency calls you and says they are flying you to California or Japan than you have to go. If you can’t make it than you get kind of demoted and you will be chosen for less shootings. Your agency makes appointments for photo shoots and pays you BIG MONEY. That’s about it (:

Good luck with that! I’ve heard that I should model since I was a kid. I did those "open casting calls" and all of them ended up being a scam. Do not ever pay for modeling school, and Barbizon is about the only legit one. Page Parkes here in Houston has always been good too, however (if they are still open). I went to another one who did advertisement and I was such a good actress they said. They sent a "director" to scout me and some other teenage girls at the modeling school. She said she wanted me for a part for the pilot of her new tv show because I played guitar. Never heard from she or the school again after I hospitalized and had to make classes up. I made up 1-2 of them and my mom was out $1,500. So, do not ever pay for modeling school or other things they charge for. They tried to tell me I needed expensive headshots and other photos and one day we showed up and they had shut down and left town. Its not a full time job unless you get signed to an agency. Also, you MUST be at least 5’8 or taller if you are female because that is required to do runway. You can do face modeling at any height. Its really more trouble than its worth. I knew of one girl at my church who is like 6 ft something and got signed as a model. She was much younger than I so I dont know anything else about it.
