I need suggestions for a hair cut?

I have thick curly hair and if I straighten it, it goes down to my mouth, but it looks poofy, I don’t want to get a short haircut, so any suggestions to get a haircut that is unique but makes my hair easier to straighten and look less poofy?
also when I say my hair is think…I mean really thick .
I’ve been thinking about getting layers and thinning it out..
But please pleas please help
Oh I’m also a guy if that helps any

    THAT IS HOW MY HAIR IS LIKE TOO!!!!! I have layers and I thinned it out so it is much easier to straighten, so I recommend that.

    I suggest you thin it because it will maybe make it less poofy and goodluck
