Makeup for a 12 year old?

Asked by: Erminia 619 views Makeup , , , , ,

Hi! So my daughter is 12 years old, and going into 7th grade. Last year, she wore concealer and mascara. However, this year she wants to expand.

Is this too much makeup for a 12 year old to wear daily?

Black Mascara
Tinted moisturizer
Powder (only if skin is too shiny from moisturizer)
Concealer (for under eyes, because she has bad under eye circles, and for the occasional blemish)
Lip gloss (just in pale pink)
And EITHER:
eyeliner
or
eye shadow (maybe color tattoo)
(since she hasn’t bought the makeup yet, so she will buy a bronze liner, and some bronze eye shadow and see which looks better)

I know it looks like a lot, but I think its good to let her experiment. What do you think? She will be paying for the makeup herself with money she earned babysitting.

Thanks

Does her classmates/friends wear makeup? Is she watching too many makeup gurus on YouTube? In my opinion, full blown makeup as you mentioned is a little much for a 12 year old girl. It’s not the fact that she is so young though the fact that she will become more reliant on these products in the future. Everything in life is about habits, morals etc and if its not developed properly at a young age, the future is affected.I know, I’m making things serious. But at 12, with my parent consenting to makeup, I would use that tinted moisturizer (perhaps buy one with a matte finish so no powder), concealer and mascara. If she really wants a lip product, let her choose a lip balm or a tinted lip balm. The eyeliner, eyeshadow, lip gloss/stick is not necessary. Especially if she’s going to school. Expansion and change is good. Just make sure it doesn’t get carried away in her early stages of life. She’ll find makeup much more exciting at an older age.

I think that is good you allow her to experiment & help her along the way otherwise she will sneak.if she has acne & wants to cover up for her own self confidence that’s fine but you should let her know that she needs to let her skin breathe so she won’t suffer servere breakouts later.also, you could take her to the mall & let a makeup counter show her how to apply makeup properly & how to keep it sanitary ,that would be fun too.

Everyone is saying 12 year olds shouldn’t wear makeup but there isn’t an age restriction and if its washed off then shes fine.Me (age 16) and my sister (age 13) wear bb cream because its light and still looks natural, concealer for things it doesn’t cover like really red spots, and then I set it with rimmel stay matte face powder. I wear mascara too. Honestly it hardly looks like I’m wearing any makeup (except I make my eyelashes quite dramatic)JUST MAKE SURE she really washes it off other wise she’ll get clogged pores and breakouts (which you probably know)

My sister is 12, and I don’t let her wear that much make up. I would say for a girl her age then mascara and concealer are all she really needs, and maybe a tinted moisturizer to even out her skin tone. If she wears too much makeup when she’s so young she leaves herself open to the possibility of bad zits and acne when she’s older. I’d try and limit wearing a lot of makeup to special occasions

it is a bit much. I wouldn’t do eyeliner until 8th grade at least. my little sister is twelve and this is what she wears: light eyeshadow (Ococasionally) mascara lip gloss and rarely cover up for blemishes. this is what I wear (I’m 15) cover up, mascara, and clear or light pink lip gloss. sometimes blush. everyone is different I just don’t think a twelve year old should be wearing that much makeup. let her natural beauty shine and keep this In mind. "less is more" :)

Your daughter is not even in teenage .we all know in teen age her skin quality will change , not all makeup works for all skin in later life she may get skin problems like acne etc and for her best tell her to stay away from makeup as far as possible natural way is the best way less is more if she wants glowing natural pink lips tell her to apply natural lip balm it works better . I would say strict no if I were in your place

I don’t even wear this much makeup..If she doesn’t need tinted moisturizer or the powder, don’t let her wear it.I wouldn’t recommend eyeliner, it seems like a lot for her age.. Maybe eyeshadow… Something Brown or skin toned

This is too much for a 12 year old, 12 year olds shouldn’t even wear makeup. I’m 14 and I still didn’t start wearing it. Maybe she can wear mascara, concealer and lip gloss for now.

She shouldn’t expand dramatically. And you shouldn’t Let her wear all that make up. For middle school and high school I think she should wear natural make up. Like concealer and mascara. Lipgloss

I would stick with concealer mascara, shimmer eye shadow , and a tinted lipbalm (maybeline baby lips can double as a tinted lip balm and blush)

She shouldn’t be wearing much makeup anyways. Makeup is never good, and I would try to stop her from using makeup at such a young age. That’s just my advice, she can do whatever she wants.

What is wrong with you? Your 12 year old should not wear any make-up besides lip balm. Why do you want your kid to grow up so fast?
