Red bulge coming out of belly button piercing?

Asked by: Collete 214 views Skin & Body ,

So, about 3 weeks ago, my 4 month old belly button piercing began to hurt when I would accidentally bump it or wash it in the shower. Upon further looking, I found that a small red bump had formed around the bottom side of the piercing. I continued to clean it with H2Ocean spray and it did not go away. The best way to describe it is that a small piece of my insides is sticking out of my external skin. I don’t know what is really is, and it’s worrying me. Any ideas? Please help. I don’t want to go to a doctor for this. Oh, and I’m 15.

i had the same thing. it is a hypertrophic scar from bumping it and irritating it. unfortunately , it will probably take months to go away , as mine did. instead of the h2ocean spray , get regular sea salt and a shot glass , and mix some with warm water. lay down and hold it on your stomach for 20 minutes once a day a few minutes before you shower. DONT TOUCH IT unless youre cleaning it. make sure you dont sleep on your stomach , and be careful about walking and things so you dont bump it.everyones body is different so yours might heal quicker , im just saying dont give up because my bump did not go away for 9 months !it might also get smaller and bigger again , but keep up with the sea salt. good luck :) do NOT listen to the person above me , alcohol and hydrogen peroxide will ruin any chance it has of healing , they are much too harsh for it. sea salt is all natural and will help it. trust me.

Go back to your piercer and have them check it out. Could it be rejecting or maybe you ripped it?
