Should I allow my 15 year old daughter to wear make up?

Asked by: Marguerita 384 views Makeup , ,

My daughter has been bugging me for Years about it, however I don’t really think it simple. Would maybe a little bit of natural mascara and lip gloss be ok? Not too old for her? Any suggestions welcome x

Yes, she should be allowed to do so. Some products to avoid if you still want her to look 15 are; Dark eye shadows, eyeliners, false lashes, and lipsticks. Once she turns 16 and has gotten the hang of doing the basics, it’s time to let her have the thick stuff. I strongly believe in letting a girl experiment with makeup before her sophomore year. If she knows how to put on makeup, it will boost her self esteem, and if she has acne this will help too. I know that I look back at pictures of when I was 15, I had no clue on how to put makeup on! I looked awful, but after a couple months and youtube videos later, I learned a lot… Also I am going into cosmetology. Make a fun time of it, go out and get some brushes (nothing too expensive), like elf is a good brand. Sit down with her and watch some youtube videos, these are the people that I like the most on youtube; DiamondsandHeels14 (She does makeup tutorials and pretty much anything fashion!), emilynoel83 (She finds dupes for high end products), and gossmakeupartist (he is an awesome makeup artist that shows tricks of the trade.). You can learn a lot from them!

I think you should definitely let her. If you let her wear small amounts now she will learn how to apply it well and naturally and is less likely to go overboard with it in a few years when she can wear however much she likes.Makeup can also help improve someone’s confidence, especially if everyone else around her is wearing it and making her feel left and young compared to her friends. Also, its key to remember that you daughters body belongs to her and she should be allowed at least some freedom as to what she does with it.However, make sure she knows not to become too dependant on makeup, as that is a trap I unfortunately fell into.

I’m a 15-year-old girl. I personally think that wearing heavy makeup is for special occasions only, but if she wants to put on some lip gloss or whatever, I think that would be fine, as long as it’s not too harsh on her. I suggest that the colors should not be too dark. I say go for the natural-looking stuff. As for mascara, I guess she can put some on as long as it’s simple and not too outrageous. Oh, and if she wants a pop of color on her lips, I suggest some tinted lip balm would do the trick. I mean, don’t you think it’s better if people would think that you’re naturally pretty even without makeup on?Good luck! :)

Well I personally would refuse to let my kids wear any unless their at the age where they can move out because by then it’s their chose and my sister is 15 and only started with some foundation and lip gloss now it’s takes her about 40 minutes to do her make up each day, if you allow her to wear make up buy the first lip gloss and mascara and after that let her pay for it so she understands that slapping on make up isn’t what you should do.

15 year olds should be able to wear makeup. It doesn’t make any sense for them not to. Having rules that hold your daughter back from being herself will hurt her in the long run. It will make her want to rebel. As long as your daughter isn’t the type to wear absolutely crazy makeup or weird heavy eyeliner, I’m sure she has good taste and will look fine. Maybe a 12 year old you would let them have natural mascara but 15 is definitely old enough for full blown makeup!!!!

Of course! If she has bad skin then use one pump of a full coverage matte foundation, pump on to the fingers and rub it in, then pat on to the skin concentrating on problems areas. If she would prefer to use concealer rather than foundation then that’s fine.Apply a light matte pressed powder on top.Pink lipgloss or any colour really. One coat of black mascara and possibly black pencil eyeliner on the top lash line. Makes the eyelashes look healthier and fuller.Optional: White pencil eyeliner on bottom water line, helps to brighten/open up the eyes (making you more awake).Good luck!, tell her not too apply to much! x

yes. however my mom did not let me wear make up until i was a little older than that because she saw girls at my school who had a full face of makeup on. when i was 15 i just wanted to wear mascara and some concealer, something my mom never let me do. i wore anyways and my mom never even noticed because of how subtle it was. lol.

depends where and how much. you should allow her to wear light and natural make up, but not a lot- let her experiment, see what looks best for her- let her be a girl. I think you should let her wear make up on special occasions, not at home because it ruins your face.

do some lip gloss a bit of mascara and if u feel ok do single lashes to open her eyes and curl lashes to make them look awake and a bit of eyeliner but don’t do the raccoon eye and do some light colored eye shadow ad do bb cream and some concealer and a natural blush

Yes, definitely! Mascara and lipgloss is barely anything!! I’m 15 in a few days, and I wear a lot more then that, yet I apply mine well & it doesn’t look too much. I look young for my age anyway, and I still look young when I wear makeup.
