Why does my hair go frizzy every time I straighten it?

I have curly hair that grows down not out (I don’t have an Afro) and it’s quite long. I’d straighten it quite frequently if I could, but every time I do it doesn’t stay dead straight… It goes a bit curly and on the top it goes quite puffy? Is there any products I can use to try and stop this? I’ve tried using hairspray and loreal non frizzy serum but it never works with my hair! Help?

    I had the same exact problem as you! I’m just going to let you know right now that because its starting to get warm out the humidity is also increasing so this is a main cause for frizz. But there are a few things that you can do! 1. Use a heat protectant that also adds shines. These can be a little greasy if you add too much of it like serums but thats the trick. Get this and spray it in before you straighten and even a little after but not a lot. You don’t want your hair to look greasy. This will also make your hair very soft and shiny! (I use Sebastian Trilliant Thermal Protection and Shimmer Complex)2. I use After Party by Bedhead after I straighten my hair and this makes my hair so soft! It also smells great! I love this product and definitely recommend it. Its a smoothing cream so its not just like the greasy serums. But if you do put too much of this in it will make your hair greasy.3. Another thing you can do is shower at night and then blow dry and straighten your hair before going to bed. Then when you wake up in the morning just run your straightener through a few times and it should make it nice and smooth. 4. It could also be your straightener. What straightener do you use? I’m not saying that you should go out and buy a $100 straightener, but do your research before purchasing one. Don’t just go to the store and pick one up because its pretty. I use the Remington Pearl straightener, it was pretty cheap for a great straightener.5. Also try to use a moisturizing shampoo or conditioner. These should help keep your hair smooth. Maybe even try a leave in conditioner when your hair is damp. I’ve used It’s a 10 in the past and it was also great! It does 10 things to your hair that also helps! You can just google it and it will pop up and then you can research it more if you want.I hope I helped you! But since it is getting hot theres no way to get rid of frizz completely unless you spend a ton of money on a keratin straightening. These products should help you because whenever I straighten mine they help! Best of luck to you!

    Personally, I have the same problem. I use a Remington straightener and John Frieda’s anti frizz heat protectant spray, works like a charm, even In humidity! I don’t even need hair spray to keep it from flipping out. Also, may sure you’re not going over the hair too fast, and straighten your hair in sections, only running the straightener over about inch wide pieces at a time. If you don’t take the time or have the patience it’ll result in a tragedy later on. Hope this helps!

    Your natural hair wave is probably extreme curly. This wave pattern needs a ton of care for it to stay straight. Products you should use are heat protectors, friz resistance, and an iron protector spray (if you want more protection from the heat).

    try a few drops of pro naturals moroccan argan oil before and after, it’s a heat protector and anti-frizz. My hair is curly and I use this stuff.

    Try some old fashion Grease….a pressing creme such as "Soft Sheen".
